As you know, fashion is something that I have always had a passion for and has been part of my creative interests for years. As time goes on, I have also found a love for skincare but never really shared this with you. One of the main reasons is because I get really insecure with my oily acne prone skin. You can watch the video I posted on my Instagram where I share my acne story and my journey when it comes to my skin. It hasn’t been the easiest sharing all this, but I feel like the more transparent I am, the more honest is the content I share with you. Like I said, my skin isn’t perfect, but it’s gotten better over the years and I don’t want my perfectionist mindset to stop me from sharing what I’m genuinely interested in. Also, I realized this is a great opportunity to reach out to you and learn more about how we can take better care of our skin!
This brings me to what I plan to share more of on my blog which is…SKINCARE!!! To kick it off, I filmed a quick “Get unready with me” video where I take off all my makeup and share my nighttime skincare routine. This was so fun to edit and I plan on making more of these. You can scroll down for product details I used in this video!
Products I use:
Then I Met You Cleansing Balm I used to be a wipes kind of girl when it came to taking my makeup off. After doing more research, I learned that makeup wipes are not the best for our skin. That’s how I learned about the double-cleansing method. This cleansing balm glides across your skin, breaks down your makeup, and the smell is divine! It’s quite an experience if you ask me. It contains sea buckthorn, persimmon extract, olive oil, Vitamin E — all things that are so good for our skin. It’s become a staple of mine and I use it even when I don’t wear makeup to breakdown my sunscreen.
Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser After finishing with the cleansing balm, I go in with a cleanser. This Youth to the People cleanser is like a green juice for the skin. It is formulated with cold-pressed antioxidants – kale, spinach, and green tea. It promotes a healthy, radiant glow while cleansing pores. I love how clean my skin feels after using it. It may be stripping to those with dry skin but my oily skin loves it. Not only do I love YTTP products, but I mostly value that they’re a clean, sustainable company. The products are all sourced in California, only come in glass bottles/jars, and packaged in recycled paper materials.
Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant This products helps my oily, acne-prone skin keep my breakouts at bay. It’s a gentle liquid exfoliant that aids to clear and minimize pores. On their website it says you can use it daily, but I only use it 2-3x a week to avoid over-exfoliating my skin. Also, I don’t think a cotton pad is necessary for application. I just put a few drops in my hand and pat away! If you use this during the day, don’t forget to apply your sunscreen!
The Ordinary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% I have to admit, I was sleeping on this product for way to long! Niacinimide has sooo many benefits for our skin. It reduces oiliness, sebum production and is also a brightening agent. The Zinc helps reduce redness and irritation. I’ve noticed a significant change in my sebum production and texture of my skin. I love this product and the best part is, it’s affordable! You can get the bottle I have for just $10!
First Aid Beauty Coconut Gel Cream I used to be weary of putting on moisturizer because I felt like I was making my oily skin worse but I was wrong! Moisturizer is an essential part to our skincare. It’s just a matter of finding the right one. FAB Coconut Water Cream is a light, oil-free water cream infused with coconut water to help recharge and hydrate the skin. What I love is that it doesn’t make my skin feel greasy afterwards. I’m really trying to be selective with using clean products and this is one of the clean beauty products offered at Sephora. I’ve been through a countless amount of jars. It’s just lovely.
Hylamide SubQ Eyes So I have mixed feelings about this product. I like the Hylamide SubQ because its very light on the under eye and not super thick like ones I’ve used in the past. I’m not a huge fan of the dropper, but I appreciate the glass bottle packaging. Would I purchase it again? Probably not. But I’m going to use it in until I’m all out. I have my eye on this eye cream from a Korean brand so stay tuned for my thoughts and reviews on that one when I receive it 🙂
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (Berry) I was highly influenced from people I was following on Instagram but after trying this myself, I’d say it’s worth the hype. This leave-on lip mask not only smells good, but it hydrates and soothes my lips leaving them more supple and moisturized in the morning. My lips used to always gets dry but ever since using this product at night, I noticed I haven’t really had that problem anymore.
There you have it! I had so much fun preparing this post for you all and I hope you enjoyed it as well. Have you tried any of these products before? Do you have other favorite alternatives? I’d love to hear from you so we can geek out on skincare together haha! Hope you’re having an awesome day and talk to you soon!
Love,
Catherine
